2012 Summer Staff Team Guidelines
Before applying for a position on our summer staff team, please examine your heart and seek God's direction. If the prospect of serving Christ wholeheartedly excites you, and you have a passion for service ministry, then the sacrifices expected of you this summer will seem insignificant.
All summer staff team members will be expected to lead and set an example for high school Ascent Camperswho will be serving with the summer staff on occasion. Because of this, college-aged applicants will be considered first in the hiring process. However, the most important qualities will be spiritual maturity and willingness to serve. Other important qualifications are emotional maturity, work experience, and timeliness of returned application.
The following are key Biblical principles that each team member will be expected to own and keep in mind for the duration of the summer at PVBCC.
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. (1 Corinthians 8:9)
For this reason, we require that clothing for all staff be very conservative. We represent Christ to a wide spectrum of perceived appropriateness. We will ask you not to bring clothes that expose undergarments, such as sleeveless shirts for girls and pants that sag below the waist. Suggestive clothing, tight clothing, and clothing with questionable slogans will not be permitted. Two-piece swimsuits will not be allowed.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.... (Colossians 3:23)
To ensure that you get essential rest and are able to continue to work with all your heart and not become weary, a curfew will be in place for all summer staff. Exclusive relationships with team members of the opposite sex are prohibited during the summer to prevent team members from becoming distracted from their given work for the Lord.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. (Philippians 3:7, 8)
In applying for a summer staff team position, you will be expected to give up some of the freedom you may now experience. However, we believe that the joy found in serving God with all your heart outweighs the sacrifice.
